As Memorial Day 2011 comes to a close, I have these thoughts. I just watched the 2nd episode of America: The Story of US. In 1789 America finally won the War of Independence against the British, with George Washington inagurated as the 1st President of the United States. It was the only time in history that a nation will have won independence against the British in War. Over 25,000 American men paid for it with their lives. It lasted 6 years. As a tribute to the end of this Memorial Day, I'd like to post these words from the beginning of the Declaration of Independence:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
