Green Slime Creek Follow Up, San Francisco, CA
Follow Up, or FU as one of my Architecture / Planning clients would write in her emails. I usually got quite a chuckle about her FU emails ;-)
For those of you who may not have read my previous post about this subject, you can find it HERE.
The Green Slime Creek has been stopped. There is a sewer easement than runs the length of the middle of the block at the back of our lot here in San Francisco. Here is a photo today of our little backyard. The problem is in the far back right corner.
Apparently many homeowners did not know about it. I didn't. Thank God we never did anything back there where it is. There used to be a wood retaining wall back there, but it fell apart. We were going to replace it with a concrete retaining wall - good thing we ran out of money about that time or we would have been in deep trouble with the City!
Apparently tree roots had gotten in to the sewer, which caused it to back up and send Green Slime flowing in our back yard. The City finally came out en masse with lots of men and big trucks at one end on Dorchester Way. One man actually crawled in to the sewer from the manhole at the back of our lot. They got the obstruction cleared. So all is well.
The Green Slime Creek is no longer. But neither we or our three Chows know what to make of what has been left behind. See in the following photo, they just look at it.
And there in the last photo is the hole leading to the manhole cover that used to be under my back neighbor's deck foundation. They chipped away at the bottom of the foundation to get the manhole cover off. The level of dirt used to be up at about the top of his foundation. Now we have a big hole. What to do. What to do?
BTW, there's still a ladder and a hoe up there that isn't ours.

Glad to hear the Green Slime Creek issue is resolved. Your little back yard is lovely, looks like a very calming and serene place to hang out. BTW, I have gotten several FU e-mail, but they're usually FU e-mails, not "follow up".
