I've been involved in the Jury selection process at The Superior Court of California these past two days. No, I can't tell you what it is about but it is something I know about through and through, and believe me, I do have serious opinions. The subject will make an incredible Blog Post once I am legally allowed to talk about it! The first 18 jurors were chosen today, and I wasn't among them. But as we all know, I still may be called.
The Superior Court building faces San Francisco's City Hall and the huge plaza in front. Today there was a lot of activity going on - setting up for the huge celebration of LGBT Pride this weekend. The theme this year is Embrace, Encourage and Empower.
And what better combination of Events could there be with this week's rulings against DOMA and Prop. 8. Today, Friday June 28, the Federal Appeals Court issued an unexpected order that allows Gays and Lesbians to marry in California, starting today! Kristin Perry and Sandy Stier were the first in line - State Attorney General Kamala Harris officiated the ceremony on Mayor Ed Lee's balcony. And San Francisco's City Hall will stay open all weekend during LGBT Pride for the weddings.
I feel like I'm living a part of History, and seeing the City Hall today from the Superior Court Building only brought that home to me. Happy Gay Pride everyone! Embrace, Encourage and Empower!
