John - this looks like such an interesting event! My daughter is an architect in Charleston, SC and she loves to go to this kind of thing. Your architecture is so diverse and I'll bet there will be terrific discussions about the architects, planners, and just that very buildings and their impact. I sure would enjoy this - great post and a good encouragement for people to come on out!
Thanks Susan. I saw this and wanted to help get the word out. There is so much going on - something for everyone to be interested in. And every event is open to the public as well. Just costs a bit more than for AIA members. The info is all at their web site.
John this sounds like a wonderful event as there are so many interesting buildings in San Fran. My Dad used to do skycrapers (granite) all over the place and as kids we'd know the city by the buildings - he taught us well!
Anna, there are so many different types of venue throughout the whole month. There are even 10 self guided home tours. Cool stuff. As an architect I did mostly medical facilities. some in India and Malaysia. Some even had granite!
John....how interesting that must have been to be in many differnt cultures.......so different than our 'typical' structures. What was you absolute favorite building that you designed?
Oh my gosh Anna. India was such a third world country at the time. Flying into Delhi's old airport at the time was such an experience. We designed a new heart hospital near Chandirgarh that was spectacular. The city of many designs of Mies Van Der Rohe.
Very cool event to attend John, especially with your architect background.
It's a whole series of events Roger. So much to see and do to learn about the City.
